I agree with this quote, In the past 10 to 12 years we have been receiving and sending pictures to each other via social media. Now we are creating digital media into short stories that express what we are communicating. There by “turning photography into a communication medium.” Who needs words, text or a long narratives of explanation when a simple picture can express so much more regardless of any language barrier.

I hate to think of pictures as having no afterlife. In one of the rooms in my house, I have an entire wall that is completely covered in pictures. Pictures of my husband and I before we had children and pictures of our children. With each picture, there is a story behind it, and in most, you would not be able to know the story without having it told to you. I will hold and treasure these memories forever. I hate that we are losing that amazing gift, the gift to capture a moment, treasure it forever, and even share the story for years to come. That gift is being replaced with this idea that pictures are nothing special and neither are the words that should accompany them. It just makes me sort of sad.
ReplyDeleteLike you I to really enjoy all my pictures they remind me of a place an time or of people I don't get to see anymore.
